Excellent end to the first arc! All the plus points already covered in earlier posts and I'll add my vote to the 'bring back Tom Fowler' chorus, it's a great combo with Asmus' writing!
This version of Q&W is far superior to the original, 3rd best book after XO and Harby!
4/5

I was reading down the posts and was worried I may be the only dissenting voice, so it is reassuring that I am not alone.Aomalle27 wrote:Not a fan of this issue. It was just TOO goofy and jumbled for my tastes. Love the introduction of the goat. Everything was just resolved too neatly. Would have liked to see them escape the crone, and leave ERa looming out there. Wasn't a total disaster, but a notch or two below the first 3 issues.
The series so far has felt chaotic to me, but that opinion may be alleviated when I re-read it as a whole arc. There seemed to be a lot thrown into the last issue without me feeling I got a lot out of the issue. And it may be that put simply, this take on Q&W may not be for me.
I am not a fan of the art - it removes it too far from the rest of the line for my tastes (and I recognise the prevailing view around here may be quite different on that), although art-wise #4 seemed the best issue so far.
As much as I love Archer & Armstrong, this book is probably the closest in intended tone, but it just has not matched A & A for enjoyment. It is also the least enjoyable of the line for me. I am just not hooked in the way other VEI titles have grabbed me, and #4 was no different, although the post it notes gag did raise a chuckle, so that is something.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

That was definitely my favorite part, but it actually read "Maybe we should just uninstall the self-destruct?"blujay wrote:There were too many great lines to quote, but my favorite was probably the sticky note

+1 - the Valiant pattern to date has generally been alternating artists every other story arc. I was hoping this would prove to be the case for Q&W.bygranddesign wrote:WOAH! Great job Carson!Carson wrote:GREAT NEWS: Fowler will be back!

I don't remember laughing out loud with a comic the way I'm doing every month with this.
I'm a Batman superhero type (serious sh** superhero types) but this has become one of the must reads of the month. This is not only funny, it's really hilarious.

Yeah, he was great! I love how his body was still grafted with cybernetic parts from the 80's. His film strip overheated! Ha!tchalla8 wrote:I'm gonna miss Beta-Max. They need to find a way to keep that clown around. He's awesome.
It's interesting that Detective Alejandra escaped with them. I wonder if she'll be their "Commissioner Gordon"?

This issue was excellent. Lots of fun. Lots of chaos. I hope the next artist can do the book justice. Fowler was perfect on this book and this issue in particular. It had a very Chew-ish vibe to it which is great. 5/5

I think people who read Chew would love Q&W. I wonder if the Guillory cover will attract some Chew readers to the book. He doesn't do too much art outside of Chew itself.400yrs wrote:This issue was excellent. Lots of fun. Lots of chaos. I hope the next artist can do the book justice.
